Cappadocia which is located in eastern Anatolia has a unique historical and cultural heritage. The Devrent, papabad and pigeon valleys give the best landscape views and have the best fairy chimney formations. The rock formations seen in the area today are due to the erosion which took place millions of years ago on three of Cappadocia’s active volcanic mountains. Volcanic eruptions created the tuff layers which resulted into these rock formations.
The three day excursion takes you through a wonderful journey of seeing and experiencing the natural formations and also you can see a large variety of fairy chimney shapes. These shapes can be conical, pointed, columnar to hat or mushroom shaped.
The underground city and the Gerome Open air museum are also toured. The city features more than thirty rock carved churches and chapels which date back to 9th and 11th centuries. Many of these monuments also have interior frescoes.
The Mevlana museum and the mausoleum of Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi is also visited. The order of whirling dervishes was also performed at this site. The whirling dervishes show can also be seen if anyone wishes. Although the fare for watching this show is not included in the tour package. Visitors have to bear the expenses exclusive of the tour package.
A guide is sent on every dispatched tourist team. The guide gives all information of the places and monuments explaining the historical events and importance.
